Schools
Please note: there are only two things that matter at a DJ function: the music that we play and the order in which we play it.
Mr Bojangles Discjockey Entertainment is recognized around South-East Queensland as one of the leading providers of music and DJs at any school dance – primary, secondary or tertiary (even pre-school, but that’s a different story). The reasons for our popularity with students, teachers and parent groups are summed up in the first 2 lines on this page.
We only send out specially trained operators to school dances, experts in the field who will be able to show you not only the Certificate of Currency for their Public Liability Insurance policy, but also their Blue Card ( Positive Notice for Child Related Employment) issued by the Commission for Children and Young People in Queensland.
What’s so special about Secondary School dances?
Many things:
- They’re important because High School students, more than any other community group, are attuned to new music and want their tastes and preferences to be recognized by the DJ at the party.
- Those tastes and preferences are generally even more varied than they are throughout the general community. These days there are just so many different styles (genres) of music being made. We will play requests.
- If the music is selected properly (as it is by Mr Bojangles’ expert DJs), the function becomes even more exciting and the students participating can almost be seen to make the decision to come along to the next one. This can have a positive bearing on fundraising targets.
- Look at the variety of Secondary School dances: the Year 12 Formal, the Year 11 Semi, the end of term Social, the bi-annual Mixer, the Fundraiser. They all have a purpose but one of the most important, underlying purposes is Social Development. It’s an important extra-curricular activity and both students and supervisors want it to be handled properly. We’ll do that.
What’s so special about Primary School dances?
I’ll try not to be too psychological here:
- Teachers from all over SE Qld tell us the same thing: “our students seem to have a limited attention span”. So Mr Bojangles’ DJ won’t just play music at Primary School functions; we also re-concentrate the attention span of the participants every fifteen to twenty minutes. We play games and have a series of little competitions to redirect their attention and their energy. And we play music and encourage them to dance.
- Children of Primary School ages are very liable to influence. Therefore we won’t play music with bad language or anti-social ideas. And we no longer take along DVD players and screens because the images shown in many current video clips are often unsuitable for students in these age groups.
- It’s important for the School to ensure that students want to attend a social of this nature in sufficient numbers to make it worthwhile. So we keep our price at a sensible level to make this possible and also provide a high quality of service so, at the next school social, they can attend in the certain knowledge that another good time is coming up.
Tertiary
Many tertiary students are already familiar with Mr Bojangles Discjockey Entertainment because we’ve done their High School and Primary School dances. The others who are not familiar with our company have a wonderful experience in store. |
